Through the Lens of My Work

Civil Society Engagement and Local Community Mobilisation

A critical starter point across my work is that I build connections and working relationships with national and local civil society organizations and communities within fragile and conflict-affected societies.

Through these relationships, I focus on strengthening capacity and empowerment; what this looks like in practice is providing workshop training, support in proposal development, project management cycle, advocacy, and campaigning support.

Localization in Practice

The principles of localization and decolonization guide my work ethos within the aid sector.

Throughout my work, I aim to foster local ownership and empowerment towards addressing the impact of violent conflict and humanitarian crises. Through supporting local grassroots communities in utilizing their existing power and capacity to find sustainable local solutions towards recovery, resilience, and long-term transition towards equitable peace.

Humanitarian Development and Peace Nexus

Through my engagement with local community members, I have co-designed integrated and holistic programming comprising diverse, innovative activities across the humanitarian development and peace nexus that would support the transition from fragile to peace; below are just a snapshot of examples.

  • Yemen, Women, peace, and security program

  • Yemen inclusive (women-focused) Community Resilience Against COVID-19 program

  • Sudan local peace actors and community emergency funding project

  • Promoting peaceful election through community advocacy and campaigns in Nigeria Kaduna and Kano state
